Sports Supplements — A Chinese Herbal Prescription (35)

July 6th, 2009

The so-called sports supplements consist of those herbs that enhance physical endurance and quicken recovery in case of injuries. This herbal category is suitable for people engaging in martial arts, competitive sports, or regular exercises such as biking, running, rowing or hiking.

It should be noted that there are no quick performance enhancing herbs in Chinese medicine with the dramatic effects of steroid. Chinese herbs are used for bodybuilding and faster recovery, implying a longer-term approach.

What should a sports supplement help?
• Strengthen bones, muscles and tendons.
• Nourish blood.
• Enhance blood circulation.
• Harness Qi to improve endurance and recovery.
• “Supplement” means in addition to healthy food.
